Chiffon is lighter in weight and soft compared to georgette. Plain-weave, lightweight, sheer, transparent fabric made of cotton, silk, or synthetic fiber. Even though thin fabric it is high on durability.

Chiffon is an eveningwear, which is in most circumstances, has a print or dyed design which enhances its quality as well as look. Chiffon fabric is sometimes called 'Crepe Chiffon'. Georgette is made like chiffon, but a two or three ply yarn is used.

Chiffon fabric is most often used for loose, full, flowing garments and is popular for dresses, scarves and nightgowns.
