Plastic thread can be used for coating of wires and the wires of which can also be used for washing of utensils. The same thread can be molded to form many other products.

A security thread is an example of plastic thread. Threads are embedded within the paper fiber and can be completely invisible or have a star burst effect. Features can be built into the thread material e.g. micro printing on a transparent plastic thread. Security threads can also be used an anti-counterfeiting device in passports.
