Wool was the first animal fiber to be made into cloth. The art of spinning wool into yarn developed about 4000 B.C. There are four different steps of processing the wool. They are shearing, sorting, grading and lastly making fabric. Wool yarn consists of short, fine wool, and contains all the varying length of fiber. Woolen yarns are used to make sweater, coat, jackets, pants, dresses, carpets etc. Woolen yarns are available in multi colours, different textures and pattern. There are also many different qualities of woolen yarns. Wool yarn protects us from cold; it makes us feel warm and cozy during cold winters. The world produces around 200 types of wool yarn. Fiber woolen yarn plays a very important role in export business in India.
